1. Acceptance of terms

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the platform. If you use KhatriSetu on behalf of a household, you also accept responsibility for information you submit about family members.

2. Purpose of the platform

KhatriSetu helps families create, connect, and preserve a digital community census — including household trees, community directories, and related heritage context.

KhatriSetu is not a government census, not a court of law, and not a substitute for official identity documents or legal advice.

3. Accounts and eligibility

You must provide accurate sign-in details and keep them secure. You are responsible for activity under your account.

You must be old enough under applicable Indian law to create an account, or use the service under the supervision of a parent/guardian where required.

4. Family records and accuracy

You agree to submit information that is true to the best of your knowledge. Deliberately false, misleading, or harmful records are not allowed.

Family trees may be shared among linked household members. Disputes about lineage or membership should be resolved within the family; the platform may restrict or correct records to protect integrity and prevent duplicates.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Misuse another person’s identity or create fake family records.
• Attempt to access accounts, data, or systems without authorisation.
• Harass, threaten, or abuse other users or community members.
• Upload unlawful, defamatory, or infringing content.
• Scrape, spam, or overload the service in a way that harms others’ use.
• Use KhatriSetu for commercial advertising without permission.

6. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how personal information is handled. Using the platform means you also accept that policy.

7. Intellectual property

The KhatriSetu name, branding, design, and software are protected. You may not copy or reuse them except as allowed by the platform or with written permission.

You retain rights in the personal and family content you submit, and you grant KhatriSetu a limited licence to host, display, and process that content solely to operate the community record as described.

8. Disclaimers

The platform is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis for community seva. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that every community or heritage statement is complete.

Heritage pages may summarise historical and community sources for education; they are not a certified genealogical verdict for any one family.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Indian law, KhatriSetu and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform or reliance on user-submitted family data.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

10. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, create risk for other users, or misuse community records. You may stop using the service at any time.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts in India shall have jurisdiction, subject to mandatory consumer protections that apply to you.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the platform evolves. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
